It all started with a simple desire: to spend every summer in the backcountry. That idea grew into something bigger—how to turn a seasonal job from your twenties into a lifelong career, guiding people through the most beautiful places on earth. After countless sketches on scratch paper, website designs drawn on cardboard, and more back-of-the-napkin math than we can count, Western Sierra Adventures (WSA) was born.

WSA is the result of two people, Sam and Wyatt, who share a deep passion for getting people outdoors. Their vision took shape while climbing at a local crag, where they realized their drive to build something of their own and share the wilderness with others.

As part of our long-term mission, we are deeply committed to giving back to Yosemite’s Gateway communities and protecting the wilderness that makes these adventures possible. Supporting the people and places surrounding Yosemite is just as important to us as exploring the park itself. Through partnerships, volunteer programs, and community outreach, we aim to foster a strong connection to the outdoors while contributing directly to the well-being of these communities and the preservation of the natural environment. Our goal is to leave a lasting, positive impact on both the land and the people who call it home.
